MIT is an unpredictable, nerdy funhouse.
Sure, MIT is a serious, world-renowned research institution with Nobel Laureates on the faculty. Our labs are packed with fancy equipment, we push the limits of science and technology every day, etc., etc.
MIT is also a place where students speak Elvish and play Quidditch, where the great dome gets transformed into R2-D2, where a complete living room set gets suspended upside down from a slab of concrete, and where an iconic campus statue is suddenly and mysteriously dressed up as Walter White.
Luckily, there are also (slightly) more formal avenues for MIT students to pursue their extracurricular interests. At last count, there were more than 400 active student clubs and teams on campus, from The Chorallaries to the Solar Electric Vehicle Team and Pokémon League. If you want it, we’ve got it — or you can start it yourself.
